Japanese Shoe Size to US Converter
Japanese shoe sizes are simply the length in centimeters (cm). Pick a size and see the US, UK and EU equivalents. All numbers are checked against the official Nike, adidas and ASICS charts, because brands differ by up to half a size.

Each brand rounds a little differently. If you know the brand, use its column.
How Japanese shoe sizes work
- The number is the length in cm. A "24.5" in Japan is a shoe made for a foot about 24.5 cm long. Stores may write it as 24.5, 24.5cm or 245.
- Men's and women's use the same number. In the US the scales are different: the same 25 cm is about a women's US 8 but a men's US 7.
- Sizes go up in 0.5 cm steps, which is a little finer than one US half size.
- Width is often written separately as E, 2E, 3E or 4E. Many Japanese styles are 2E (a little wider than US standard).
How to measure your foot in cm
- Put a sheet of paper against a wall and stand on it with your heel touching the wall.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe. Do both feet and use the longer one.
- Measure from the wall to the mark in cm. Many people add 0.5 cm for sneakers so the toes have room.
- Measure in the evening, when your feet are slightly bigger, and wear the socks you plan to use.
Common questions
Is a Japanese 24 a US 7?
For women, yes on the Nike chart (24 cm = US 7). On the ASICS chart it is US 7, and adidas lists its 240 (JP) as a women's US 7.
What is 25 cm in US shoe size?
About a women's US 8 on all three charts. For men it is a US 7 on Nike and adidas, but a US 6.5 on ASICS (ASICS puts its men's US 7 at 25.25 cm). This half-size gap is why it helps to check the brand.
Should I size up for Japanese brands?
Japanese brands follow the same cm system, so go by your foot length. If you are between sizes, pick the larger one.
